  1. Just watched the interview. So disappointed to see that Ms. Bangura’s questions were edited out. A journalist has a duty to ask hard questions, to hold those in power accountable and to do it in a respectful manner. Based on what I’ve read that is exactly what she did. However WUVA chose to edit out her portion of the interview so the audience is not being given the opportunity to judge for themselves whether she did that. Now more than ever we need a free press with future journalists who will ask hard questions.

  2. What a disappointing display by WUVA and its leadership. The main interviewer having a major conflict of interest (working at WUVA and University Communications) is just the start. In the midst of journalistic integrity taking a beating across the country, the main interviewer decided to cut all “tough” questions the night before the interview with no input from the rest of the team. The termination of Sophia Bangura is an embarrassment, and reflects extremely poorly on WUVA. The fact that sticking to the pre-planned questions was viewed as “insubordination”, and cutting agreed upon questions the night before the interview is somehow ok, is baffling. As an alumni, this is another sad step in the wrong direction for our beautiful university and what it stands for.
