Behind the False Active Shooter Report in Shannon Library

On Monday, November 3rd, the UVA community received a report of an active shooter in Shannon Library. Students and faculty were encouraged to RUN-HIDE-FIGHT. Almost an hour later, the University Police Department concluded that no evidence of an attack–or an attacker–was found. Deputy Chief Police Bryant Hall reiterated his department’s commitment to student safety in the face of such events.
