In a 46-14 vote on Pres. Ryan’s final day in office, UVA’s Faculty Senate passed a “no confidence” resolution to the Board of Visitors.

An audience of over 1,000 watched in person and virtually, as tension and debate unfolded during this emergency session.

This resolution comes after President Ryan’s resignation due to ongoing investigations and negotiations with Department of Justice.

The faculty senators demand transparency and participation as the search for the University’s next president commences. They say the BOV’s lack of communication with faculty gives them “no confidence” in the University’s governing body.

Until then, Jennifer “JJ” Wagner Davis will serve as acting president.
